SharePoint Alternate Access Mappings

To fix the following error in SharePoint 2010 I used the steps outlined below. My setup was a Single Sharepoint Machine with NO Active Directory:

Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator.

Then in Central Administration follow these steps:

  1. Go to Application Management >> Alternate Access Mappings
  2. Choose the correct URL from Alternate Access Mapping Collection (Page Left)
  3. Click Edit Public URLs
  4. Enter Intranet & Internet domain names
  5. Click Save
